Hutchinson Manufacturing (HMI) is committed to the environment through waste prevention efforts designed to eliminate negative environmental impacts.

The company’s Health, Safety and Environment Team evaluate every operational aspect of the business looking for opportunities to reduce or eliminate waste through recycling, process alternatives or material alternatives.   Examples of recycling include paper products, steel, aluminum, milling chips and paint solids.

HMI is excited to leverage the support of an Environmental Engineer intern to further evaluate and and strengthen the company’s environment program.

3D modeling capabilities at HMI just advanced with the recent addition of SolidWorks, which is the most widely used 3D CAD software in the industry. The engineering/technical staff attained certified training and utilizes this powerful modeling tool for HMI projects. This will help HMI streamline interactions  with their customers and internal manufacturing processes.

Two new vertical turning lathes have been added to HMI’s equipment list.  Each have ‘live’ tooling capabilities. The new additions reduce set-ups and produces circular parts/flange/funnels with increased accuracy and throughput.

The equipment additions include:

• 2015 Toshiba TUE-150 LTL, 50 HP with with 25 HP 2500 RPM live tooling. This includes a table size of 57.09″ diameter and 78″ cutting diameter.
• 2012 Doosan Puma 400 MB with turning center full wrap steady rest 1.5″ – 18″ capacity. This includes 12 Pos, 15 HP 3000 RPM live tool turret.

HMI was audited by Perry Johnson Registrars January 2016 for renewal of the companies ISO 9001:2008 Certification status.  HMI’s quality management systems and practices passed with high ratings.
